Comment Periods and Sign-ups
The United States Department of Agriculture (USDA) and other federal government agencies frequently propose regulations, guidances, and interpretations of laws that affect sustainable agriculture.  All proposed regulations have to go through a process that includes a public comment period.  Comments from the public are very important in forming government policies.  Comments can typically be made by postal letter, e-mail, or on a website.  Here you can find information about proposals that are open for comments, and links to help you send your comments.

We also include information about sign-up times for various federal programs related to sustainable agriculture.  Farmers typically sign up for these programs through their local Farm Service Agency (FSA) or Natural Resources Conservation Service (NRCS) offices.
