The goals of Dream of Wild Health are to locate Native American vegetable seeds and medicinal plants in the seven state area around Minensota. After the medicinal plants are obtained we hope to propagate them in a timely manner. The vegetable seeds will be planted to help achieve a minimum of a two to five year suply. Many of these seeds are few in number, sometimes only as many as 5; and some of the seeds were not stored in the best of conditions. There are times we may need help with special propagating in a lab setting.

The medicinal plants, after they are identified, need to propagated in a timely manner. Soil should match closely to the natural surroundings that they were originally found in. An ample supply of these plants need to be maintained for healing ceremonies. All of the medicinal and vegetable plants also need to have a photographic documentation, a plant description and a cataloging numbering system, this will then be logged in a data bank for public access. We also hope during htis time of propagating for seed stock that we will also be able to develop a meraket for the produce and the medicinal plants.

The candidate will be involved in the daily maintenance of the plants, such as weeding, watering, measurement of plant height, recording daily temperature, observing soil conditions, plant wellness, and recording flowering time, along with fruit production. With the internship program the students will be involved with the propagating of all plants. they will be helping in medicinal plant identification and in aiding in written documentation and cataloging of the plants, along with developing a plant database. Also, other duties as assigned.

Qualifying students should have the basic planting and propagating skills, general plant maintenance skills, and also some knowledge of pollination of plants and how to bag the fruit to avoid cross-pollination. Students will develop two databases; vegetable and medicinal plants.
