Extremely dry conditions across much of the United States this summer have led the United States Department of Agriculture to offer drought relief programs for livestock producers. In Minnesota, 33 counties are eligible for drought relief.
The drought relief funds will be issued as block grants to state governments, and will be distributed by the state governments, not by Farm Service Agency (FSA) offices. Details on signups and payments are not available at this time, but livestock producers in affected areas should act now to document their losses and extra costs due to the drought.
