This Center provides annual reports of the data collected from farms enrolled in the Farm Business Management Courses. The Center also has some financial analysis tools available to farmers, such as FINPACK; and sponsors workshops on finances, marketing, and risk management.
Offered through the Minnesota State Colleges and Universities (MNSCU) system, these courses are available to any farmer. There are 105 Farm Business Management instructors in Minnesota, who meet with farmers on a one-on-one basis. Courses emphasize record-keeping and decision making.
The Southwest Research and Outreach Center at Lamberton, MN hosts this group which issues yearly crop production budgets as well as a wealth of fact sheets on grain marketing, cash rents, requesting loans, equipment costs, land prices, tax information, estate planning, and transferring the farm.
