Featherstone Fruits and Vegetables

RR 1 Box 121B
Rushford, MN 55971

We are a 20 acre certified organic fruit and vegetable farm.

We encourage soil health through a strict cover crop and crop rotation schedule.

We like our interns to participate in the daily life of the farm. From planting to harvest, it gives a good base of understanding of our operation. We encourage interns to choose an area of interest, i.e. greenhouse production, CSA development, harvest management, tractor tool operation; and we will make a plan to satisfy both the intern and the farm. Interns should have an open mind and a willingness to try new methods. We are open to new ideas and hope to learn from our interns as we teach.

We work a 50 hour week and would like the intern to commit to 10 to 12 weeks. Starting date could be anytime from mid-April to mid-May. We offer $500/month plus $100/month for food. We provide housing in a solar powered cabin. We also have a small trailer available. Both have cooking facilities.

There are two families involved in Featherstone. Jack and Jenn McHugh have 2 sons. Rhys and Tracy Williams have 2 daughters. We have been farming together for over 4 years and have 20 years farming experience between us. Featherstone is located at the Zephyr Valley Land Co-op. We are a 550 acre intentional community that was established 6 years ago. We have six families and raise various types of livestock and crops. We often have many different projects going on and our interns are encouraged to participate in anything that interests them.
