U.S. Fulbright Distinguished Chairs Program comprises approximately forty distinguished lecturing, distinguished research and distinguished lecturing/research awards ranging from three to 12 months. Awards in the Fulbright Distinguished Chairs Program are viewed as among the most prestigious appointments in the Fulbright Scholar Program. Grants aware awarded to eminent scholars who have a significant publication and teaching record.

Distinguished Chairs enjoy the experience of a lifetime, one that provides a broad cultural perspective on their academic disciplines and connects them with colleagues at institutions across 18 countries.  While foreign language skills are needed in some countries, most Fulbright lecturing assignments are in English.

Beginning with the 2009-10 Fulbright Scholar competition, the two-tiered application process for the Distinguished Chairs Program will be merged into a single application process. The new application deadline will be August 1, 2008.

U.S. citizenship is required. Permanent resident status is not sufficient.
