The Minnesota Project is a nonprofit organization dedicated to sustainable development, connecting people with programs and policy to build strong local economies, vibrant communities and a healthy environment.
The Minnesota Project's local foods program also includes the Heartland Food Network (HFN) working to encourage and facilitate the increased consumption of local and seasonal foods as a way to build stronger communities, healthier lives, and a cleaner environment.
Primary Duties and Responsibilities:
• Direct the Local Food Program inside the Minnesota Project and coordinate all efforts with The Minnesota Project leadership team. • Manage the fundraising, fund development, grant writing plans and budget for the local food program. • Lead the vision and working goals for the local food program, its staff and interns. • Evaluate program goals and directions. • Train and supervise the Minnesota Project's local food staff and interns. • Create marketing and communications plan for the local food team in cooperation with The Minnesota Project leadership team. • Coordinate outreach for the Minnesota Project's local food work in Greater Minnesota and Greater Minnesota communities. • Coordinate and manage public events, meetings and conferences to promote local food. • Initiate, develop and support growth of on-line marketing, communications and networking. • Build and maintain working relationships with chefs, farmers, distributors and statewide food partners. • Assist the total organization, as needed, teaming in on all-staff activities or in other major projects that require full-staff assistance. Experience and Qualification Requirements:
Bachelors degree (or relevant experience) plus 2 years successful fundraising and development-related experience; supervisory experience required; knowledge and understanding of local food issues required, successful collaboration, networking and strong relationship-building skills required, strong public speaking skills; strong interpersonal skills; ability to manage multiple projects; excellent verbal and written communication skills; understanding of local food policy preferred; experience working with chefs, farmers and distributors preferred, connection to Minnesota's local food community preferred. Must be available to work flexible hours. Must be able to travel regularly throughout the state. Some evening and weekend work required.
Salary: commensurate with experience and available funds
