Where can I buy organic livestock feed?
The Buckwheat Growers Association operates a feed mill in Wadena, MN that sells organic and transitional feed blends for horses, cattle, hogs, poultry, sheep, dairy goats, and wildlife.  They supply sacked or bulk feed to a number of feed mills around central MN.

W.R. Grains is an organic and natural livestock feed business based in Little Falls, MN. They offer sacked or bulk feed blends. Box 251, Little Falls, MN 56345.

You can also contact individual organic farmers and buy grain directly from them.  The Minnesota Department of Agriculture has a Directory of Minnesota Organic Farms that can help you find suppliers of hay, grains of all types, and straw.

Organic feed sources in the Midwest can be found on the website of MOSES (Midwest Organic and Sustainable Education Services).

The Organic Valley cooperative publishes an “Organic Trader” newsletter that includes listings of feed, livestock, and equipment for sale.

Nationwide sources of organic feed can be found on the ATTRA website (Appropriate Technology Transfer for Rural Areas).

The New Farm has a farmer-to-farmer search feature that lists nationwide suppliers of organic feed.

If you want to buy directly from an organic farmer but you are having trouble locating one, contact MISA.  We can help.
