Conventional poultry production in the United States is characterized by a large scale of production, thin margins, and production contracts. Even so, farmers are finding niche markets and production methods that allow them to raise and sell poultry at a higher level of profit.
Poultry Your Way is a new publication that describes marketing, processing, and production alternatives for the Upper Midwest. MISA and the Minnesota Department of Agriculture produced Poultry Your Way, with funding from North Central Region SARE and in collaboration with: Center for Integrated Agricultural Systems, University of Wisconsin, Madison; Michigan Agricultural Stewardship Association; Michigan Integrated Food & Farming Systems; and Sustainable Farming Association of Minnesota.
